Subject to regulatory clearance, Accenture is to acquire Heidelberg-based Pecaso at a non-disclosed price. Pecaso specialises in SAP Human Capital Management consulting and integration services for multinational companies and the public sector. The company has around 300 staff (in seven countries), serving 700 clients worldwide. In 2004, it generated revenues of €46m.
Katharina Grimme
Comment: With this relatively small, but focused acquisition, Accenture strengthens its consulting skills in the HR space, using the SAP Human Capital Management platform. That Pecaso has a number of impressive client references, including Lufthansa, Henkel, Cadbury Schweppes, Zurich Financial Services or Stirling University, is certainly not unwelcome either. All Pecaso staff, and its proprietary technology, will be integrated into Accenture's Human Performance practice, which will then have around 5,000 members.
SAP's HR ERP solution is used by a number of vendors, including, for example, ADP and T-Systems (which announced only last week a strategic partnership with SAP for HR outsourcing solutions based on SAP HCM). Accenture sees its consulting capabilities as its differentiator against the HR arms of the infrastructure outsourcers, and its outsourcing capabilities as its differentiator against the pure-play HR consultancies. Not a totally unique positioning, but potentially a strong one - provided it can quickly reap synergies (in the form of additional revenues) from this acquisition. |
