The Chief Executive of INTERES Invest in Spain and the President of the Spanish Association of Consulting Firms (AEC) sign an agreement to position Spain as a technological outsourcing hub
Madrid, January 15, 2008 · The sector specialization of Spanish consulting firms, a highly qualified workforce and excellent communications are the competitive advantages behind the initiative "Spain: the Nearshore destination in Europe". · The main thrust of the agreement will be to promote and attract foreign investment to develop Spain's nearshore services, consisting of technological development service provision for neighboring countries. INTERES Invest in Spain, INTERES Invest in Spain, the Government agency dedicated to promoting and attracting foreign investment, part of the State Department for Tourism and Trade of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, and the Spanish Association of Consulting Firms (AEC) have signed a collaboration agreement to promote Spanish technological services abroad to capture and consolidate foreign investment in the development of high value-added sector solutions. The ceremony was attended by Begoña Cristeto, Chief Executive of INTERES Invest in Spain and the President of the AEC, Diego Pavía. This agreement establishes a reciprocal cooperation framework between INTERES Invest in Spain and the AEC covering areas such as information, promotion and attraction of investment of interest in integration services and business systems and processes outsourcing. One of the goals of this agreement is to develop a program, entitled "Spain: the Nearshore destination in Europe", to promote and attract Foreign Direct Investment in Spanish outsourcing. This program aims to disseminate Spain's competitive advantages, with the focus on value and specialization of services, as opposed to other destinations such as India and China, which base their offer on salary costs. Through the agreement signed today the two organizations establish a stable collaboration framework to promote the idea of Spain as a competitive destination for FDI in the field of ICTs, including areas such as information, investor services and promoting the image of Spanish consultants abroad. INTERES Invest in Spain and the AEC will work together to promote the competitive advantages Spain has to offer at the major trade fairs and international events in the sector by highlighting the success stories of Spanish consultants who work at software development centers boasting a strong track record and international reputation. Under the auspices of this agreement, INTERES Invest in Spain and the AEC will also collaborate to develop new investments, providing foreign consultants in Spain with the institutional backing they need, as well as strategic and operational support. AEC The Spanish Association of Consulting Firms (AEC) has represented the leading consulting firms in Spain since 1992. Its mission is to inform about and promote technological and management consulting by providing major Spanish companies in the sector with a communication and discussion platform. It also seeks to serve as a point of reference and information for organizations and institutions interested in outsourcing technical assistance.
