Capgemini launched Smart Analytics, its new business intelligence solution which provides an accelerated platform to help utilities gain the most value from the complex data generated in their organization and by their Smart Grid and AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) deployments. The solution enhances the speed of delivery of analytic portals by accelerating the development process for requirements definition, data modeling and related business logic. It reduces the overall cost and risk of implementing business intelligence solutions within utility clients by leveraging Capgemini’s key partner alliances with Teradata Corporation and SAP AG for industry leading technology and domain expertise.
Smart Analytics offers utilities analytical and reporting capabilities across functional areas and provides an integrated platform for the deployment of business intelligence. It pushes "actionable intelligence" to all levels of the organization with role-based access and security. Key benefits of these capabilities include:
• Improved access to data and decision support in the form of interactive dashboards, reports and ad hoc query tools to analyze data from different business areas in a single integrated solution.
• Operational monitoring and analytical solutions for programs such as Demand Response campaigns, Predictive Asset Maintenance, etc.
• Pre-defined and extensible data models for utilities (uLDM) developed by Teradata that ensure data accessibility and scalability while enabling reuse and documentation.
Smart Analytics is designed to assist utilities that are currently in the process of planning, deploying or operating their respective ‘Smart Grids’. According to Gartner, Inc. "By 2014, smart grid data floods will force utility companies to double their investment in real-time business intelligence systems." Paul Nannetti, General Manager of Capgemini’s global Business Information Management (BIM) service line commented, "our recently published ‘Smart Analytics for the Utility Sector’ Point of View2 highlights the urgent need for organizations to interpret consumer usage patterns and develop competencies to forecast demand and proactively plan for future requirements. Smart Analytics offers utilities multi-dimensional support across functional areas and provides an integrated platform for the deployment of business intelligence. It pushes actionable intelligence to all levels of the organization."
Smart Analytics leverages the Group’s significant investment in its Business Information Management (BIM) Global Service Line with 4,000 BIM consultants, including a Centre of Excellence in India, staffed by over 1,000 specialists. The BIM services provided by Capgemini, who have had a diverse client base in this area for over 15 years, include strategic information management blueprinting; data architecture, warehousing and management; data analysis and performance reporting; and electronic file management, retrieval and collaboration portals. Smart Analytics also leverages the Smart Energy Services (SES) Global Service Line and builds on extensive Smart Grid and AMI expertise and best practice developed by working with more than 20 North American and European utilities since 2004.
