Capgemini to provide global maintenance and development services for Kemira IT infrastructure
18/01/2007
Capgemini will provide global maintenance and development services for workstations and other infrastructure, as well as support for the SAP system. The agreement is initially valid for five years. It involves no job cuts or employee transfers.

Paris, Helsinki (January 15, 2007) – Kemira Oyj, Finnish chemicals group, and Capgemini Finland Oy (Capgemini), part of Capgemini Group, one of the world’s leaders in consulting, technology and outsourcing services, sign a major outsourcing agreement. According to this agreement, Capgemini will assume responsibility for Kemira’s IT infrastructure services and the support services provided for Kemira’s SAP system.

"The re-evaluation of IT services is part of Kemira’s development programme, which aims to improve performance and develop processes at Kemira to meet increasing customer demands," says Timo-Pekka Räty, Executive Vice President, Information Technology, Kemira.

"Kemira’s goal is to acquire clear-cut and cost-effective high-quality IT services. We paid particular attention to the fault tolerance and continuous development of services. The development of IT services is not a part of Kemira’s core business, and therefore it was sensible to outsource these functions to a strategic partner who is able to provide adequate global service coverage. Capgemini was able to offer us the best solution," says Riitta Lehikoinen, IT Manager, Kemira.

"We are proud of the confidence Kemira has shown by selecting us. Based on our solid experience in implementing major international outsourcing projects, we believe that Capgemini is able to meet Kemira’s demands and is able to support Kemira in its way towards more efficient processes and better services. Our global delivery model and network of delivery centres enable us to serve companies wherever they may operate," says Petteri Uljas, Vice President, Outsourcing Services, Capgemini Finland Oy.
