PwC splits Northern practice; names new leaders for growth
With a renewed focus on growth opportunities across each region in the North, PwC has announced that it will split its Northern practice into two regions – the North West and the North East. To facilitate this enhanced regional market focus, changes to its leadership teams will come into effect from 1 July 2012.
In the North West, Iwan Griffiths will join the Manchester office as the Regional Leader and Office Senior Partner. In the North East, which includes Yorkshire, Ian Green has been appointed as regional leader
Stephanie Hyde, partner and PwC board member for the regional business, said: “We recognise that there are significant opportunities for growth across the North and that each region has unique industries and sectors. Our success lies in our people knowing the market inside out and these investments in leadership teams will reinvigorate our offer to local clients and help us clearly focus on meeting their needs.
“This new structure will allow Iwan and Ian, in their new regional leader roles, to truly support their vibrant, growing business communities. We are committed to building a strong team, growing our presence in the market and offering our breadth of expertise across the North West and North East.”
Iwan Griffiths, originally from Shropshire, began his career at PwC in London in 1994 and has held leadership roles in Seoul from 2005 to 2008 and Tokyo from 2008 until present. He will be relocating to Manchester from Tokyo. A UK Assurance Partner, Iwan has spent much of his career working in the banking and capital markets sector, but also serves asset management and insurance clients. He graduated from the University of Warwick in Economics and Politics and obtained a post graduate certificate in education from the Institute of Education, University of London.
Based in Leeds, Ian Green has been with the firm for 25 years and currently leads the Northern restructuring practice. His expertise lies in corporate reconstructions, restructuring and accelerated mergers and acquisitions. He will continue this work in addition to the regional leader role. Ian succeeds Steve Denison, who has been promoted to lead the firm's Assurance business across the UK regions. Steve will continue to be based in Leeds, retain local clients and remain actively involved in the region.
In addition to the regional leadership roles, Martin Heath has been appointed to lead the Liverpool office.
