Nueva Delhi, Julio 25, (EFE) Infosys, la segunda compañía india proveedora de servicios tecnológicos, anunció que se hará cargo de la división de procesos de negocio (BPO) de la holandesa Royal Philips NV por una cantidad aún no revelada, según una fuente de la compañía asiática.
El director ejecutivo de Infosys, S. Gopalkrishnan, declaró que la compañía no iba a revelar el coste de la operación, pero aclaró que el contrato con Royal Philips tiene una duración de siete años.
Gopalkrishnan aseguró que el contrato "generará unos 250 millones de dólares de ingresos" para su subsidiaria de procesos de negocios.
El pasado 11 de julio Infosys anunció un beneficio neto de 194,4 millones de euros en el primer trimestre del año fiscal (abril-junio), lo que supone un aumento del 34,5 por ciento respecto al mismo periodo del año anterior.
La empresa, que actualmente cuenta con casi 76.000 empleados, anunció además que planea contratar a otros 26.000 trabajadores en el presente año fiscal.
Infosys, fundada en 1981, tiene una treintena de oficinas repartidas por varios países del mundo, entre ellos España y los principales Estados europeos.
Philips, con sede en Holanda, tiene una plantilla de más de 120.000 empleados en más de 60 países y una cifra de ventas de 27.000 millones de euros en 2006.

Bangalore, India – July 25, 2007: Infosys Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ: INFY) today announced that it has signed a multi-million dollar outsourcing contract with Royal Philips Electronics’ (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) ("Philips") of the Netherlands. As part of the agreement, Philips will enter into a multi-year contract with Infosys BPO to provide Finance & Accounting (F&A) services and the processing of purchasing orders. Infosys will also acquire three shared service centers located in India, Poland and Thailand from Philips. The contract is amongst the largest Finance & Accounting BPO engagements from India and will expand Infosys’ global network, particularly strengthening its European operations.

The deal extends Infosys’ global network with new centers in India, Poland and Thailand. Infosys will gain approximately 1,400 Philips professionals who will add to the Infosys BPO team a wide range of valuable skills and abilities, which include diverse language capabilities, technical expertise and domain knowledge.
