The new Projects Solutions Centre, supported by a £250,000 Regional Selective Assistance grant from the Scottish Government, provides an outsourced project management service using its proprietary software tools.

These tools have been developed over time into a toolkit that includes so-called "Milestone Manager" software to interpret project plans and milestones and control screens that provide clients with remote real-time views of the milestones, risks, issues or actions held in the Toolkit and are customised views that allow Management to focus on key areas.

The Altran CIS division was previously known as Sutherland Consulting, which has carried out project work for a number of banks, notably Deutsche Bank, where it was involved in the banks' massive overhaul of its data centres. Management of existing Deutsche Bank projects handled by Altran CIS has been transferred to the centre.

Steve Boyle, chief executive of Altran CIS, said that the centre was already employing 30 staff and the plan is to grow this to 200 over the next five years.
