Quick off the mark school leavers and graduates snatch 70% of PwC’s roles in London
The new recruits will join the UK’s largest private sector graduate programme in April and September 2011 across the firm’s assurance, advisory and tax businesses.
Despite the early take up over 200 full time roles in the capital are still open, including new consulting roles that opened this month. The firm’s second recruitment campaign for this university year gets underway shortly, with employability skills, commercial awareness and career coaching on offer to students online, in local offices and on campus.
Applications to London, where half of all the A-Level and graduate positions are located this year, continue to dominate interest, with actuarial and consulting and roles seeing the highest increase in applications since last year.
Sonja Stockton, PwC director of recruitment, said: “Growing confidence in the job market and a steely determination to secure a great role as quickly as possible has generated a whirlwind of early applications to the firm’s London vacancies.
"Many city employers are firing up their recruitment campaigns in the capital again meaning more vacancies and more competition for students and employers. Our dedicated London campus campaigns give us a real edge in meeting the top talent in the city's universities.
“With its vibrancy, culture and abundance of after-hours activities, London is the most popular location for students and graduates wanting to train with us. This is clear not only by the overwhelming application levels but almost 50% of students who recently attended our campus reception evenings said that London was their first choice.
“This year we have created the largest ever number of jobs for students and graduates, and there are plenty of opportunities remaining. Those that apply now could be working with us as early as April.”
PwC opened recruitment for over 1200 graduates, 400 interns and around 70 A Level students in early October. In total, over 1600 roles have been created, representing the highest ever recruitment levels on record for the firm.
