T-Systems wins more international deals. Government of Catalonia: 10 million euros to bring the Internet into 2000 Catalonian schools. Palma de Mallorca city council: new IT infrastructure
T-Systems continues to expand its business outside of Germany. By 2010, the ICT provider intends to double its share of international revenue to one-third and assume a leadership role in key western European markets. T-Systems has made headway by winning six new contracts. "Over the past few years we have expanded our presence outside of Germany and improved the awareness of T-Systems in international markets – this strategy is now paying off," remarked Axel Knobe, responsible for business with multinational corporations and public institutions. The total value of the new contracts exceeds 70 million euros.

The city council of Palma de Mallorca has awarded T-Systems an order to set up a new IT infrastructure. Palma’s officials want to become the model for public service by handling 80 percent of all routine services through the new online portal. The city invested more than 50 million euros in the project, designed to save trips to city hall to take care of routine tasks. For the citizens of Palma, this means more services in better quality at no additional cost. Palma recently received the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Certification for improving its public administration systems.

The Government of Catalonia has awarded T-Systems a contract for over 10 million euros to bring the Internet into over 2000 Catalonian schools. T-Systems will implement broadband access for the schools through fixed and wireless connections. The order stems from an initiative by the Catalonian Government to nurture an information society in this autonomous region of Spain. T-Systems is already a principal ICT provider the Government of Catalonia. Since 2005, the ICT provider is responsible for the operation and management of IT services.

T-Systems has also sealed an ICT contract with the Swiss health insurer KPT for the introduction of an archiving and workflow solution. The company can now optimize and automate the distribution, processing and archiving of online insurance policies and other documents. The insurer saves time by eliminating paper documents and correspondence. KPT is able to pass on this benefit to its customers, who are rewarded with a five percent reduction in premiums when they choose online processing for their additional insurance policies.

Impregilo, one of the leading Italian engineering and contracting groups in the construction and environmental sectors, has awarded an order to T-Systems for the management of its entire IT systems for the next five years. The group will draw the computing capacity for its projects from a T-Systems data center located in Vincenza.

To ensure service continuity and security for 41 out of the 48 cooperative credit bank members of Federazione Lombarda in the Lombardy Region of Italy, T-Systems and the IT consultancy Adfor have developed an operational continuity plan. The plan supports the banks in meeting the stringent legal requirements of Basel 2 for the identification and evaluation of risks in emergency situations, organisation of preventative and emergency measures as well as restarting of processes in critical situations.

The South Africa glass packaging manufacturer Consolhas outsourced its entire ICT environment to T-Systems. The six year outsourcing contract includes the setup and operation of Consol’s corporate network, desktop and application support.
